Your Impact:

As part of our expanding R&D team, composed of mechanical, systems, and software engineers, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of Formlabs' printing processes. Collaborating closely with various engineering teams, you will explore next-generation printers and materials, applying engineering principles, physics, and experimentation to bring beautiful, reliable products to life.

If you are a systems thinker who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, we would love for you to join our R&D team as a 3D Printing R&D Engineer.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop innovative 3D printing techniques, including new printer architectures and precise adjustments in Galvo control.
  • Contribute to the exploration of new technologies.
  • Address complex, open-ended challenges across various engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct experiments and leverage findings to enhance software or hardware solutions.
  • Assess current printer performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement enhancements to existing products, such as redesigning support structure algorithms based on experimental data.

About You:

  • You question assumptions and support your insights with data.
  • You possess experience in experimental design and data analysis to guide design decisions.
  • You can design and construct test fixtures for experiments.
  • You have a portfolio or website showcasing your projects.
  • You have a foundational understanding of programming and scientific computing, preferably in Python or Matlab.
  • You are familiar with mechanical design, mechatronics, and CAD modeling.
  • You hold a B. S., M. S., or PhD in an engineering discipline (all levels are welcome).
