About the job
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Electric Aviation
At Vertical Aerospace, we are at the forefront of electric aviation innovation. Our flagship eVTOL (electric, vertical take-off and landing) aircraft, Valo, is designed to achieve zero emissions while setting unprecedented safety standards in air travel.
We are committed to transforming aerospace practices, moving rapidly from a prototype phase to becoming a prominent player in the industry. Our ambitious goal is to attain airliner-level safety certification for Valo by 2028, paving the way for service with our airline and operator partners.
Your Role
We are looking for an exceptional Systems Engineer specializing in data and communications to contribute to the design, development, verification, and flight testing of our advanced data systems for the eVTOL platform. The successful candidate will possess expertise in digital communications, IP networks, and complex avionic systems—including mission computers, touch screen displays, communication systems, data radio equipment, and airborne sensors. Experience with safety protocols, regulatory standards, and troubleshooting in dynamic environments is essential.
Your Responsibilities
- Requirements Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive requirements and traceability matrices, ensuring thorough documentation and tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design and Development: Create integrated avionics suite designs and ground stations incorporating sensors, communication, recording, and display systems.
- System Integration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and seamless integration into the aircraft platform.
- Verification and Validation: Plan and execute verification and validation activities to confirm that systems meet user requirements and operate reliably.
- Commissioning: Develop detailed system commissioning plans and execute them to validate the correct operation of fielded systems.
- Flight Test Support: Provide on-site support for the setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of avionic data, communication, and recording systems during flight tests.
