PhD in Engineering, specializing in Control Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with research focusing on AI/ML applications for physical systems. Experience in R&D as an engineer or academic staff in thermal system modeling, simulation, and control, with a demonstrable record in AI/ML control research. Deep understanding of HVAC system physics and modern control theories, such as Model Predictive Control and Reinforcement Learning. Strong awareness of the latest AI developments for control systems and their applicability to energy systems, with the ability to convert research findings into functional prototypes. Proficiency in Python and relevant machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). Passionate about innovation with an entrepreneurial mindset, alongside excellent communication skills. Able to work autonomously and effectively in team settings.

In your role as a Senior Research Scientist, you will collaborate with research teams, business units, and external partners to pioneer innovative technologies and bring groundbreaking solutions to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead innovation efforts in sustainable HVAC technology, emphasizing advanced control strategies.
  • Collaborate with business units on sustainability initiatives, contribute to Bosch's long-term product portfolio, conduct customer interviews, define problem statements, and develop research proposals.
  • Create and implement AI-based algorithms for optimizing thermal systems controls, including HVACs and Heat Pumps, focusing on energy efficiency, user comfort, and grid stability.
  • Develop intelligent solutions for reliable HVAC operations, including predictive maintenance and anomaly detection.
  • Engage in model-based engineering for energy systems, sensor technologies, and data analytics, designing experiments for proof-of-concept and prototype development.
  • Foster collaboration with local institutions and universities to identify and assess top-tier research and innovation partners.
  • Maintain regular alignment with the Strategic Research Portfolio Owner, provide quarterly project updates, manage stakeholders, and pitch ideas through the Bosch Innovation Framework.
