Role Overview
We are seeking an Android Engineer to spearhead the development of Hook Music’s Android application from inception. You will play a crucial role in adapting our core iOS experience for Android users while ensuring the app maintains a native feel, optimal speed, and thoughtful design tailored for the platform.
In this pivotal, 0→1 role, you will work closely with product managers, designers, backend developers, AI specialists, and iOS engineers to define the architecture, deliver promptly, and iterate towards achieving product-market fit on the Android platform. We are looking for an individual who is deeply passionate about quality, performance, and user experience, particularly within media-rich, social contexts.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and sustain Hook Music’s Android application utilizing contemporary Android frameworks.
Convert product and design specifications into high-quality, scalable implementations.
Guarantee exceptional application performance across media playback, creation workflows, and social feeds.
Collaborate closely with backend engineers to establish clear API contracts.
Work cross-functionally with product and design teams to enhance user experience and deploy updates iteratively.
Implement Android engineering best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.
Monitor application performance, stability, and crash metrics to continuously enhance quality.
Participate in technical decisions regarding architecture, tools, and release procedures.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Android development.
Strong expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development techniques (e.g., Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow).
Demonstrated experience in architecting and deploying production-ready applications.
