Your Role
As an early member of our AI engineering team, you will focus on developing agentic systems. Your initial task will be to create voice agents that autonomously call payers to verify the status of prior authorization submissions, follow up on pending requests, and accurately capture structured outcomes in our systems. This role aims to replace the tedious human task of waiting on hold with faster, more efficient, and tireless AI agents.
Over time, your responsibilities will expand beyond voice technology as we integrate AI across various facets of the company. You will play a vital role in shaping how Ascertain designs, evaluates, and operates diverse agent types, including voice, chat, document understanding, and internal tools. We seek an AI engineering generalist excited to start with voice technology and grow into multidimensional AI solutions.
Your Responsibilities
Develop and implement voice agents capable of making outbound calls to payers, managing IVR systems, navigating hold queues, engaging in multi-turn dialogues with human representatives, and accurately capturing structured data.
Integrate telephony, speech recognition, text-to-speech, and large language model components into robust, reliable end-to-end pipelines, maintaining ownership in production.
Establish evaluation and quality assurance frameworks to assess agent performance, pinpoint regressions, and drive continuous improvements based on real-world interactions.
Create and sustain APIs and integrations that connect agent outputs with our prior authorization workflows.
Instrument every aspect of agent operations: call outcomes, agent behavior, latency, and failure modes, utilizing this data to enhance future iterations.
Collaborate closely with our operations and clinical teams to identify and automate high-impact workflows, translating those insights into actionable agent designs.
