AECOM is on the lookout for a proactive Associate Director - Security Designer to join our esteemed Security and Technology Engineering team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to significantly influence future construction projects across Europe and beyond.

As an integral part of the Building Engineering division, the AECOM Security & Technology Engineering team specializes in delivering expert Security and Technology design and support services that complement our building engineering initiatives.

Our Buildings Engineering team, comprising approximately 400 skilled engineers, focuses on large-scale construction projects with specialties in London and globally, including major commercial builds, mixed-use developments, critical national infrastructure, and various other sectors.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will oversee high-level technical and strategic security engineering services for new builds and fit-out projects at every RIBA stage, including:

  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and drafting operational requirements.
  • Leading master planning efforts for projects ranging from city-level initiatives to mixed-use developments.
  • Designing robust physical security solutions, including electronic locking systems, walling, glazing, doors, barriers, and fencing.
  • Creating electronic security designs encompassing video surveillance, access control, intruder detection, and intercom systems.
  • Providing counter-terrorism guidance, especially in Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM), bomb blast, and ballistics in collaboration with specialists.
