Education and Discipline:A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with a preference for a focus in Power Systems. Experience:This is an entry-level position, and no prior experience is required. Skills and Abilities:Coursework in power systems modeling, familiarity with software such as PSS®E or PSFL, and knowledge of EMS applications or contingency/load flow analysis is beneficial. An understanding of Energy Management Systems operations, California's power generation and transmission networks, and network modeling would be advantageous. The ability to work effectively as part of a team, alongside strong interpersonal skills, is essential.

About the job

Under the close guidance of the Senior Manager, you will cultivate the skills, knowledge, and expertise necessary to enhance the performance, integrity, security, and ongoing improvement of the Energy Management System (EMS), which includes PI Historian and Synchro-Phasor technology. You will also learn to develop display work that supports the modeling of Power System Market and Reliability Models vital for the operation of the California ISO-controlled power grid.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in proactive enhancements, process improvements, and troubleshooting for Real-Time Power System Applications, including PI and Synchro-Phasor.
  • Participate in the Full Network Model build and deployment processes, contributing to enhancements and troubleshooting.
  • Work to maximize EMS uptime and address system failures. Provide support for technical issues stemming from data communications, equipment, or system failures. Offer 24/7 technical support to ISO Real-Time Operations and other departments regarding EMS, PI, and Synchro-Phasor systems. Manage PI Vision changes, synchronize updates across different environments, process requests for PI performance equations, and assist in maintaining the AF database and related applications.
