About the job

About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is pioneering a compact and rapid semiconductor fabrication facility. Our goal is to harness today’s technology to build innovative solutions with streamlined processes. We are committed to creating our own tools to facilitate swift iterations and enhancements.

We are assembling a small team of exceptional, hands-on engineers across various disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process engineering. Our team will take ownership from atomic-level designs to complete architectural solutions. We are optimistic about the future and eager to push the boundaries of technology.

We believe that smaller, faster, and self-built solutions are superior. Our lab is equipped with advanced tools such as 3D printers, a variety of microscopes, e-beam writers, and general fabrication equipment, and we are ready to invent whatever is missing along the way.

Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. Sam is renowned for his garage-made chips, while Jim brings over 40 years of leadership experience in the semiconductor industry.

About the Role

We are seeking an Automation Software Engineering Intern for the upcoming fall semester, starting in September. We prefer a commitment of 4 to 8 months. As part of an integrated engineering team, you will engage in building semiconductor fabrication equipment, tackling intriguing engineering challenges.

Our small size enables interns to undertake significant responsibilities, contributing to mission-critical projects. You will enjoy substantial autonomy on interdisciplinary initiatives that enhance our semiconductor fabrication processes and improve robot efficiency. Ideal candidates should have a background in motor controllers, path planning, and trajectory control.

We prioritize rapid prototyping and testing—aiming to build and verify solutions within days or weeks, not months. Therefore, a portfolio showcasing your work (such as a GitHub link) is required to apply, demonstrating your software engineering skills and curiosity.

About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, focusing on creating a streamlined fabrication process in a compact environment. With cutting-edge technology and a committed team, we aim to redefine semiconductor manufacturing.
