Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the technical roadmap for stage avionics mechanical design for current and future vehicles. Lead the execution of avionics mechanical designs from concept through release, build, testing, and vehicle-level operations. Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of avionics mechanical engineers. Provide technical guidance in fields such as structures, avionics, thermodynamics, and rocket operations. Cultivate a culture of integrity, reliability, and rapid iteration. Design, analyze, manufacture, and test flight avionics including enclosures and secondary structures. Conduct design reviews both internally and externally. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput and reduce costs in alignment with launch targets. Qualifications5+ years of experience in design, analysis, testing, or construction of avionics mechanical systems or similar.1+ years of leadership experience in engineering management.

Role Overview

The Avionics Mechanical Engineering Manager leads the design and development of mechanical solutions for flight avionics hardware packaging and launch vehicle integration on both the first and second stages of Nova. This role guides a team of engineers through the entire project lifecycle, including conceptual design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and flight operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the design and development of mechanical systems for avionics hardware integration on Nova’s launch vehicle stages.
  • Guide engineers through technical challenges from concept to flight operations.
  • Develop and implement company standards for avionics mechanical design and integration.
  • Encourage innovative problem-solving and hands-on engineering approaches.
  • Apply first-principles and systems-level thinking to complex technical problems.
