Job Description:
As a Battery Simulation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing battery technology by developing, validating, and deploying electrical and thermal models for battery cells, modules, and complete packs. Your expertise will significantly contribute to the creation and integration of high-performance, safe, and reliable battery systems utilized in various applications. This position demands a robust understanding of battery fundamentals, simulation methodologies, high-voltage electrical circuits, and a systems-level perspective. You will address technical inquiries using established tools and methodologies while also innovating new modeling techniques to tackle the evolving challenges of battery safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement both physics-based and empirical models to simulate the electrical, thermal, and degradation performance of lithium-ion battery systems.
- Conduct 1D simulation studies to assess battery behavior under diverse electrical, thermal, and environmental conditions, including rapid charging, thermal events, and aging.
- Analyze laboratory test data to extract model parameters, validate simulation outcomes, and enhance model robustness.
- Execute sensitivity analyses, scenario simulations, and model-based evaluations to facilitate design and engineering decisions.
- Collaborate closely with cell, module, and pack design engineers, alongside test and control teams, to define requirements and optimize system performance.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and presentations summarizing modeling methodology and simulation results.
- Work cross-functionally with product teams, sharing progress and insights with stakeholders.
