Are You Ready to Elevate the Possible?Qualifications:In-depth technical knowledge of BMS, mechanical, and electrical systems, with hands-on experience in control systems, commissioning, and smart building technologies. Demonstrated capability in leading teams, managing national projects, and effectively handling workload, financials, and stakeholder relationships. Exceptional communication and leadership abilities, adept at collaborating with clients, architects, M&E contractors, and senior stakeholders. Familiarity with open communication standards, BMS trends, and innovative solutions for smart buildings. Educational background: HNC or a degree in building services, electrical engineering, or computer science; experience with BMS systems like Trend, Tridium, or Niagara; competent in cause & effect matrices, specifications, and commissioning. Chartered status or on track to achieve it, with security clearance (or willingness to obtain).

Join AECOM’s Building Engineering Division as a BMS Principal Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing building management systems across diverse sectors—including office fit-outs, mixed-use developments, industrial facilities, and commercial projects. This opportunity allows you to spearhead innovation, provide state-of-the-art smart building solutions, and significantly influence the built environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Overseeing the design, commissioning, and implementation of BMS systems, ensuring alignment with client requirements, regulatory standards, and sustainability objectives.
  • Building and nurturing connections with stakeholders, including clients, architects, M&E teams, contractors, and senior management, providing specialized guidance.
  • Managing intricate projects end-to-end: including conducting feasibility studies, developing specifications and point schedules, handling tender management, cost analysis, and progress reporting.
  • Performing system surveys, assessments, and FAT/SAT testing, delivering comprehensive reports, recommendations, and training to clients to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Driving business development initiatives, mentoring the BMS team, facilitating knowledge sharing, and contributing to the advancement of smart building technologies.
  • Championing Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) best practices, addressing technical challenges while ensuring compliance and promoting a safety-oriented culture.
  • Supporting the integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, demonstrating expertise in open communication standards and advanced BMS technologies like Trend, Tridium, and Niagara.
  • Occasionally traveling nationally to project sites and AECOM offices, while enjoying a balanced approach to office work and flexible remote working options.
