Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana or the capability to obtain one within one year. Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MS or ME). Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., MIDAS, Leap Bridge Concrete, or similar). Proficient in CAD/BIM tools such as OpenRoads/OpenBridge Designer or MicroStation. Comprehensive knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with DOT design procedures and standards.

The AECOM Indiana Transportation team is on the lookout for a Bridge Project Design Engineer III to become a vital part of our expanding structural and transportation group in Indianapolis, IN. In this role, you will play a key role in the planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of bridges and associated transportation structures across a diverse array of public-sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural analysis and design of bridges and transportation structures in compliance with AASHTO and state DOT standards.
  • Generate engineering calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Provide support in the development of rehabilitation and maintenance strategies for existing structures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including roadway, geotechnical, and construction engineering personnel.
  • Evaluate contractor submittals and offer construction support services as required.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to applicable codes, standards, and agency guidelines.
  • Innovate and implement bridge design solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals and presentations for upcoming projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance on bridge engineering projects.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in bridge engineering and design.
  • Work alongside environmental specialists to ensure bridge designs meet sustainability and ecological standards.
  • Perform load rating analyses for new and existing bridges to assess their structural capacity.
  • Assist in the establishment of bridge management systems and maintenance plans.
