About the job
Become a part of the 2025 AIA Firm Award Winner dedicated to creating a sustainable future.
At LPA, we are a dynamic collective of designers, engineers, and researchers devoted to addressing the most pressing challenges of our time. Our innovative "No Excuses" integrated design approach has been recognized by the AIA as “a pioneer in sustainable, high-performance architecture”. Joining our team means being part of a movement that reshapes the industry’s perspective on design and carbon emissions, underpinned by the belief that collective input is essential for achieving our objectives.
LPA firmly believes in embedding sustainability and building performance into every design, regardless of project size, scale, or budget. Over the years, we have developed a multidisciplinary, research-driven design model, fostering a collaborative culture centered around analysis and problem-solving. We proudly surpassed the AIA 2030 Commitment target of reducing energy use in our buildings by more than 70 percent for two consecutive years (2018-19).
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Building Performance Specialist to enhance our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, and master planners. Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant industry experience; however, we welcome applications from those with more extensive backgrounds. The role, title, and salary can be adjusted based on the qualifications of the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform building performance analyses on LPA projects, including early phase analysis, whole-building energy modeling, and LEED/regulatory compliance modeling.
Facilitate firm-wide education and training on early phase modeling software for design staff.
Act as a design partner, guiding teams through design decisions informed by building performance analysis.
Assist in gathering project data to meet our 2030 Commitment reporting requirements.
Contribute to LPA's bi-annual publication, Catalyst, as well as other internal and external reports.
Represent LPA at industry committees, conferences, and forums.
