The Cable Technician II position calls for a skilled and experienced professional who will play a key role in guiding and managing the executive support group within the program. Candidates must demonstrate their capability and experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) customer environment and their ability to seamlessly integrate within a government multi-contractor team.
As a Cable Technician II, you will be a vital member of the Network Infrastructure and Support team, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and repair of structured cabling systems in the DISA enterprise transport network. A hands-on approach is essential to ensure that our physical infrastructure adheres to the highest standards of operational efficiency, security, and compliance with DoD STIG and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair structured cabling systems, including copper, fiber optic, and other telecommunications media.
- Analyze, manage, and maintain the telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
- Dress, terminate, and test cables and components, demonstrating proficiency with power tools and ladders.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, installations, and repairs related to cabling infrastructure concerning trouble calls and perform routine maintenance.
- Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems.
- Identify, track, and remove abandoned cables, ensuring all cables are neatly bundled while following safety protocols.
- Ensure that all installations are properly baselined, tested, and validated according to DoD STIG standards before deployment.
- Perform regular system testing and validation to maintain ongoing compliance.
- Assist in documenting the baseline configuration of all network assets linked to structured cabling systems.
- Ensure accurate representation and reporting of assets in the government-provided system.
- Collaborate closely with the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), IT team, and other stakeholders to achieve a unified approach to network infrastructure management.
