Location

This position requires you to be onsite at our South East PA shop for 5 days a week.

Role Overview

As a CAD Designer on our Implementation team, you will serve as the mechanical design expert responsible for creating custom automation solutions that meet customer specifications. You will convert customer requirements and site survey data into detailed engineered cell layouts, end-of-arm tooling, custom fixtures, and fabrication-ready drawing packages. Collaboration with Automation Engineers will be key from the initiation of the project to the successful transition to the customer. You will lead design reviews with internal engineering teams and present CAD models to customer manufacturing teams, ensuring precision, manufacturability, and clear documentation in all your designs.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Engineering

  • Create 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings for robotic automation cells, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), custom fixtures, machine guards, and structural supports using SolidWorks.
  • Design with manufacturing constraints in mind for sheet metal, welded fabrications, and machined components.
  • Oversee bills of materials (BOMs) for sourcing and procurement processes.
  • Utilize GD&T principles to ensure designs are manufacturable, inspectable, and repeatable across production runs.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on structural and load-bearing components to ensure safety margins prior to releasing drawings for fabrication.

Cell Layout & Integration Design

  • Develop comprehensive 3D cell layout models that consider robotic reach envelopes, collaborative safety zone clearances, and operational workflows.
