ABOUT THE TEAM
The Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) Chief Engineering Team plays a crucial role in executing technical strategies and the overarching vision for our most vital programs. This team is tasked with creating a roadmap for product development and leading multidisciplinary groups to ensure successful outcomes. A strong sense of ownership and active participation in developing the ecosystem necessary for execution is expected.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Chief Engineer focusing on Science & Technology, you will serve as the senior technical authority overseeing conceptual design, applied research, and experimental development for advanced air systems. Your role demands high creativity during the conceptual phase, a profound understanding of customer mission requirements, and a personal commitment to driving technical execution through modeling, experimentation, building, and testing.
Concept Creation & Applied Science
- Lead initial conceptual design efforts for advanced air vehicle systems, including configuration exploration, trade studies, and performance modeling.
- Utilize first-principles thinking across aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, controls, autonomy, and stealth technologies to assess concepts.
- Identify and develop key scientific and technological breakthroughs essential for unlocking new operational capabilities.
- Blend creativity with engineering feasibility, ensuring all concepts are based on viable technological pathways.
Systems Architecture & Integration
- Establish system architectures that integrate air vehicle design, mission systems, autonomy, and manufacturing considerations from the start.
- Lead cross-disciplinary trade studies and modeling initiatives to evaluate subsystem interactions.
