Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, with 15+ years of experience. Proven expertise in the development of autonomy systems and algorithms. Experience in leading technology development teams. Solid understanding of multi-agent systems, collaborative operations, coordination and orchestration algorithms, and distributed sense-making and control. Proficient in motion planning, constraint optimization, perception, localization, mapping, controls, and relevant system performance metrics. Demonstrated ability to guide medium to large engineering teams (10-40 engineers) throughout the complete Agile development lifecycle, including task definition, delegation, and maintenance. Experience collaborating with both internal leadership and external customers in the development and execution of technology projects.

The Analytics & C2 (AC2) Division at Systems Technology Research (STR) is dedicated to developing groundbreaking technologies that address complex national security challenges through advanced analytics, sense-making, and autonomy solutions. Our team is composed of enthusiastic and skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science. We leverage our collective expertise and innovative thinking to evolve ideas from initial conception to full-scale implementation, thereby enhancing mission success for our clients.

The Collaborative Autonomy and Controls (CAC) Group within the AC2 Division focuses on creating multi-agent autonomous systems capable of executing multiple missions across various operational environments. Utilizing our proficiency in machine learning, advanced algorithms, and best practices in software development, we craft technologies that revolutionize reconnaissance, tactical operations, and other mission-critical areas.

The Role:

As a Chief Engineer, you will collaborate closely with leadership in the CAC group to conceptualize, market, and secure programs that propel the group’s technology advancements. You will lead cohesive teams to design, develop, implement, and showcase cutting-edge systems. Your responsibilities will include developing system architectures and implementation strategies for program technologies, engaging with customers to define problems, ideate solutions, and integrate concepts into broader capability ecosystems. You will work with a diverse array of customers, tackling various challenges across technology domains and engineering disciplines, while conducting software architecture and design reviews as part of our agile development process.

This position offers the flexibility of STR’s hybrid work environment, allowing for remote work when physical presence at STR’s facilities is not necessary.
