ABOUT THE TEAM
The Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) Chief Engineering Team plays a pivotal role in the technical execution and strategic vision of our most critical programs. They are tasked with crafting a forward-thinking vision for product development and leading interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional results. Their deep involvement is essential in constructing the ecosystem that facilitates successful execution.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Chief Engineer, you will spearhead a diverse team of aircraft design engineers, including experts in configuration, aerodynamics, structural design, loads and analysis, guidance, navigation and control (GNC), mechanical subsystems, avionics, power systems, software, and mission systems. You will oversee a platform with established design and testing heritage as it evolves into a mature production and operationally deployed system, facilitating new and ongoing development initiatives. This role demands leveraging your technical expertise, first-principles thinking, and leadership skills to establish objectives, challenge and direct your team, and drive projects to successful completion. Your prior experience in programmatic decision-making will be crucial in ensuring an optimal balance between design, analysis, and testing to maintain design rigor while eliminating non-value-added processes that do not align with program goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of executing and completing multidisciplinary projects where schedule and cost considerations are critical to design.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Guide the technical and programmatic execution of air vehicle and mission systems design, fabrication, testing, and productization.
- Establish trade studies to explore early conceptual designs, collaborating closely with technical subject matter experts and business development teams to identify optimal solutions for current and future capability gaps.
