As we advance our growth strategy, we are in search of a skilled estimator to join our dynamic and innovative team. In our fast-paced office, you will encounter projects that will undoubtedly challenge your expertise. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will spearhead the complete estimating process through collaboration with both the estimating support and project management teams.
The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure to meet tender deadlines while managing multiple projects and tasks concurrently. You should possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and be a reliable team player who is confident, meticulous, and capable of overseeing projects through to completion.
As our perfect candidate, you bring prior experience in estimating and managing both self-performed and subcontracted work. Proficiency in construction industry software, specifically HeavyBid, is highly advantageous. A solid understanding of civil construction methodologies related to both commercial and residential earthwork and infrastructure development is essential. You will have a working knowledge of civil earthworks costs, with demonstrated skills in soliciting, evaluating, and managing pricing, scheduling, and quality objectives for individual projects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor online tendering data sources, current projects consultants are engaged in, and annual municipal budgets.
- Estimating – perform take-offs, obtain pricing for materials and subcontractors, and finalize labor, equipment, and material costs for each estimate.
- Prepare and finalize tender packages for management review prior to submission.
- Technical – leverage skills to interpret construction drawings and specifications, and adeptly operate relevant proprietary software. Adapt to new technological implementations.
- Support Project Management by preparing change orders and tracking emerging trends.
- Develop and maintain long-lasting subcontractor and supplier relationships.
- Assist clients and consultants with preliminary pricing for future projects.
- Foster and maintain positive client/supplier relationships.
