Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. EIT certification is preferred.2–8 years of professional experience in land development civil engineering is preferred; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. Experience in preparing civil engineering site plans (including site layout, utilities, grading & drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management) is advantageous. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Timmons Group is actively seeking a dedicated Civil Project Engineer to join our dynamic Land Development team at our Ashburn, VA office.

Our projects encompass a diverse range of large-scale industrial and distribution initiatives, as well as public land development ventures, including educational institutions, correctional facilities, fire stations, community centers, and parks. We play a pivotal role in assisting our clients with zoning entitlements, civil site plan approvals, and providing construction administration support. As a project engineer, you will collaborate within a team of 2-3 design engineers and a project manager to transform our client’s vision into reality. The complexity and fast-paced nature of our clients' needs cultivate a dynamic environment, promoting teamwork, diverse training opportunities, and nurturing a sense of ownership in the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design project components utilizing office software, modeling tools, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and problem-solving using formulas and computer tools.
  • Research and prepare material specifications through equipment catalogs.
  • Develop design details and finalize plan sets.
  • Conduct research and prepare objective summary reports upon project completion.
  • Assist in creating engineering and construction cost estimates.
  • Perform field observations, inspections, and data collection as required.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal design teams while guided by senior staff.
