Role overview
The Clinician Scientist role blends clinical experience with a working knowledge of artificial intelligence. This position focuses on building and improving AI tools for healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and practical value. Clinician Scientists at Abridge define and validate AI solutions, working closely with engineers, product managers, and other clinicians to shape products that support real-world medical practice.
What you will do
- Develop and refine AI-driven clinical tools, such as note-taking systems, risk adjustment (HCC capture), clinical decision support, and prior authorization features.
- Apply clinical knowledge and prompt engineering to improve product outputs.
- Set standards for what counts as clinically meaningful results, including error thresholds, quality metrics, and identifying potential failure points.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and clinicians to embed medical insights into AI models.
- Draft, review, and adjust prompts to enhance AI model performance in clinical settings.
Location and work model
- Position based in the San Francisco office (Mission District).
- Hybrid schedule: at least three days per week onsite.
- Relocation assistance available for those moving to San Francisco.
