Key Responsibilities:
Programming, setting up, and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills and routers for kitting and airbrushing fiberglass and foam cores.
Interpreting intricate engineering drawings, CAD models (such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360), and CAM files (like Mastercam, Fusion, or NX) to accurately produce components according to specifications.
Collaborating closely with mechanical engineers, composites technicians, and systems integrators to ensure parts meet fit, function, and manufacturability standards.
Choosing suitable tooling, feeds, speeds, and fixturing techniques for precise work on composite materials.
Keeping CNC equipment, tools, and workspace in immaculate and safe condition.
Conducting in-process quality checks and post-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
Participating in ongoing process enhancements within CNC workflows, fixture design, and the accuracy of composite parts.
Qualifications:
Required:
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a CNC programmer/operator in a high-volume boat manufacturing environment.
Extensive experience with CAM software (Fusion 360, Mastercam, NX, or equivalent).
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
Comfortable operating in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and self-motivation.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to distinguish different fiberglass types and designs.
Preferred:
Familiarity with 5-axis machines and multi-axis toolpath strategies.
Prior experience in the maritime composite manufacturing sector.
