Your Skills and Experience: A proven history of trading Chinese and/or global commodities futures and derivatives, demonstrating consistent risk-adjusted returns. Comprehensive knowledge of the Chinese commodity markets, macroeconomic factors, and geopolitical influences. In-depth understanding of Chinese exchange regulations, margin requirements, and the regulatory landscape. Ability to convert fundamental and macroeconomic analysis into effective trading strategies. Experience working with analysts, quantitative researchers, and developers in a data-centric trading atmosphere. Strong risk management practices and competence in navigating event-driven volatility. Proficiency in Python, SQL, Bloomberg, or similar analytical tools is a plus. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English, both written and spoken. Capacity to make decisive actions in a dynamic, competitive trading setting.

About the job

Your Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and optimize lucrative trading strategies within the Chinese commodities markets, encompassing sectors like energy, precious metals, and base metals.
  • Engage in trading futures and associated derivatives on prominent Chinese exchanges (SHFE, DCE, ZCE, INE, GFEX) as well as pertinent offshore platforms.
  • Incorporate fundamental research, macroeconomic insights, and geopolitical trends into trading strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Commodities Analyst team to leverage insights on supply-demand dynamics, inventory patterns, shipping routes, regulatory updates, and government policies to formulate actionable trading strategies.
  • Spot and capitalize on forthcoming market catalysts, volatility shifts, and structural dislocations.
  • Generate innovative trade ideas driven by directionality and volatility, informed by both global and domestic intelligence on the Chinese market.
  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers and technology teams to enhance execution processes, foster data-driven decision-making, and scale systematic components of trading strategies.
  • Proactively manage risks, considering exposure to macroeconomic events, liquidity fluctuations, regulatory changes, and cross-border interactions.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of research frameworks, dashboards, and trading tools in partnership with the Analyst and technology teams.
