About the job

House of Friendship seeks a Community Development Worker to join the Community Services, Neighbourhoods team in Kitchener, ON. This contract position runs from approximately June 1, 2026, to March 5, 2027. The role is full-time at 37.5 hours per week, scheduled Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some evening shifts possible.

The Community Development Worker will help coordinate and deliver programs that build local capacity and foster a sense of belonging.

What you will do

  • Plan, promote, and run food and community programs at community centres and partner sites.
  • Facilitate community consultations and lead leadership development initiatives.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including documentation, registration, record-keeping, data entry, survey management, and tracking program expenses.
  • Coordinate efforts to keep community spaces clean, safe, and welcoming, ensuring Health and Safety standards are met.
  • Supervise part-time staff, volunteers, and students to support program delivery.
  • Respond to incidents during programs and assist staff with incident reporting for both House of Friendship and partner sites.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners involved in food and community programs.
  • Serve as the main contact for community centre programs at partner locations.

Requirements

  • Valid G class driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) before starting employment.

Contract details

  • Full-time contract: June 1, 2026, to March 5, 2027.
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • Some evening shifts may be required.
