Position Overview:
As a Composites Technician specializing in Hull & Deck Infusion, you will play a pivotal role in the infusion of high-performance composite components integral to the structure and systems of our advanced autonomous vessels. Your work will involve handling large molds, loading dry materials and stringers, setting up vacuum manifolds, executing bagging procedures, conducting drop tests, performing leak detection, maintaining vacuum catch pots, mixing resin and MEKP in precise ratios, and employing various infusion techniques. This hands-on position is essential to our manufacturing process and significantly influences the reliability and performance of our products.
Key Responsibilities:
Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and uphold industry-leading standards.
Prepare molds and tooling for the composite layup and infusion processes.
Execute precise hand layups utilizing dry fiber materials.
Configure and carry out vacuum-assisted resin infusion processes.
Mix and handle resins and hardeners, adhering to established safety protocols.
Ensure proper installation of fiberglass layers to avoid bridging, wrinkling, and resin richness.
Install core materials with minimal gaps.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workspace.
Interpret technical drawings, layup schedules, and process documentation using a tablet.
Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to refine part design and manufacturability.
Document completed work and identify areas for process improvements or quality enhancements.
Exhibit a sense of urgency in all tasks.
Prepare surfaces for fiberglass loading by mixing putty and deburring surfaces, along with additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in composite manufacturing, particularly in resin infusion within a high-rate boat-building environment.
Demonstrated strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a quality-first mindset.
Proven experience in vacuum bagging for hulls and decks.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
