Required Qualifications:1–3 years of hands-on experience in trimming and processing composite or fiberglass components. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and with urgency. Proficiency with tools such as grinders, sanders, Dremels, saws, and pneumatic equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions accurately. Familiarity with composite materials, including carbon fiber and fiberglass. Strong attention to detail coupled with a safety-oriented mindset. Physical capability to lift components, stand for extended periods, and work with personal protective equipment. U. S. Person status (citizen or permanent resident) required for Department of Defense-related tasks.

Position Overview:

In the role of Composites Technician specializing in Trim & Drill, you will play a crucial role in the fabrication of composite components including hulls, decks, and various structural parts. Your expertise will ensure that all components adhere to stringent tolerances and high-quality standards required for Department of Defense applications. This position demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to craftsmanship.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, and shop equipment to trim, cut, and grind composite materials.

  • Interpret technical drawings, trim outlines, and edge tolerances to execute finishing operations.

  • Deburr edges, prepare bonding surfaces, and ensure precision fitment for assembly.

  • Employ jigs, templates, and various measurement instruments (calipers, tape measures, gauges) to verify part geometries.

  • Conduct surface preparation for painting, bonding, and secondary assembly processes.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in grinding and trimming areas.

  • Identify defects, report non-conformances, and assist in rework or repair activities.

  • Collaborate with layup, infusion, and quality assurance teams to facilitate smooth production workflow.

  • Document work accurately and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.

  • Utilize tablets for documentation and reporting.
