Summary/Objective:
The Construction Estimator will play a pivotal role in our team by crafting competitive and precise bids for various commercial construction projects. These projects encompass hard bids, negotiated contracts, and design/build opportunities. The Estimator's expertise is crucial during the preconstruction phase, involving the evaluation of project documents, gathering subcontractor pricing, and fostering robust industry relationships.
Essential Functions:
The Estimator is expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure the successful bid for projects.
Core Competencies:
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not entail direct supervisory responsibilities but may involve mentoring junior team members.
Work Environment:
Located in a vibrant office environment, the role may occasionally require site visits for assessments and pre-bid meetings. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory during these site visits.
Physical Requirements:
The Estimator primarily operates at a desk, often working on a computer for extended periods. Occasionally, the position may involve lifting items up to 15 lbs, and during site visits, climbing ladders or traversing uneven terrain may be necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.
Travel:
Most responsibilities will be conducted in the office, with occasional travel required for project site visits, pre-bid meetings, or training events. A company vehicle will be provided for business-related travel.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Fundamental understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
- Basic IT proficiency.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Two or more years of experience in construction estimating.
- Familiarity with Viewpoint, Bluebeam, Office 365, and bid software (e.g., SmartBid).
Work Authorization/Clearances:
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
