About the job

Join our team at Radiant Industries as we embark on a groundbreaking project to establish an advanced nuclear manufacturing facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We are in search of a dynamic Construction Manager / Owner’s Representative who will take charge of on-site execution, ensuring that ambitious schedules and innovative design concepts translate into tangible results.

This role is integral to our startup, serving as a player-coach rather than a passive overseer. The ideal candidate excels in fast-paced, uncertain environments, is adept at making immediate field decisions, and possesses the assertiveness to drive contractors, designers, and internal teams towards successful project delivery.

This position is designed with flexibility, allowing the individual to focus on capital projects and upcoming construction phases or to progress into a leadership role in site facilities and operations post-construction.

Key Responsibilities

Owner’s Representative & Field Execution

  • Act as the primary onsite authority for ownership throughout the construction phases, ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained.
  • Maintain a constant field presence, driving execution across general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Hold contractors accountable for adherence to schedules, workforce allocations, sequencing, and quality benchmarks.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues to mitigate impacts on timelines and costs.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders with an emphasis on efficiency and clarity.

Schedule-Driven Delivery

  • Oversee daily schedule awareness and short-term planning.
  • Utilize creative problem-solving techniques to recover lost time and safeguard critical path activities.
  • Support cost tracking and change management, understanding the interplay between schedule, scope, and cost.
  • Ensure that inspections, testing, and commissioning are sequenced to prevent delays.

Design Interface & Future Phases

  • Engage actively in design discussions for future construction phases, expansions, or additional facilities.
  • Provide practical feedback to design teams based on in-field conditions regarding constructability and sequencing.
  • Utilize lessons learned from current construction to enhance future designs, scopes, and execution strategies.
