Akuo Energy is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to spearhead the planning, coordination, and oversight of HSE management for an upcoming solar project in the Dominican Republic during its construction phase.Your primary goal will be to ensure adherence to both international standards and Akuo's internal policies, while reporting directly to the project’s Execution Manager. Key responsibilities include:Formulate, execute, and oversee comprehensive HS&E plans in alignment with IFC (International Finance Corporation) standards, ensuring that all contractors and subcontractors comply with approved HSE management protocols and relevant legislation, covering areas such as emergency response, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and secure storage practices.Enforce Akuo’s HSE strategy and assess the safety performance of the EPC Contractor and subcontractors through systematic audits, weekly safety briefings, and prompt reporting of any incidents, hazardous situations, or environmental impacts.Possess the authority to halt any unsafe operations and confirm that all contractors adhere to best HSE practices, comply with the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental Management Plans (PMAA), and maintain necessary site records.Ensure that all personnel and visitors receive site inductions; validate the contractors’ toolbox talks, job safety analyses, training sessions, and safety updates prior to commencing work.Guarantee the execution of mitigation strategies outlined in the ESIA, PMAA, and the Environmental and Social Management System, reporting any accidental discharges or breaches of environmental regulations.Maintain all HSE compliance documentation, ensuring it is current and submitted to the Owner upon project completion; generate a monthly HS&E report detailing incident statistics, near misses, environmental occurrences, and contractor working hours.Facilitate collaboration with landowners, managing HSE matters related to activities impacting their properties, while ensuring that construction-related transportation, waste management, and operations pose minimal risks to nearby communities.
