AECOM is seeking a passionate and skilled Data Center Control System Designer to be a key member of our Buildings and Places (B+P) group, based in Arlington, VA, with the flexibility for fully remote work within the United States. In this role, you will be responsible for designing cutting-edge automation and SCADA systems tailored to mechanical and electrical operations in complex data centers and mission-critical infrastructures worldwide.
This position offers the flexibility of a remote work schedule while allowing for occasional travel for client engagements, project milestones, and collaborative sessions that are vital to our business.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the mechanical design team to create control sequences, diagrams, and points lists for mechanical systems that support building and process systems.
- Collaborate with the electrical design team to develop network architectures and points lists for electrical distribution and conditioning systems.
- Engage with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design team to ensure structured ethernet cabling interfaces align with control panels and end devices.
- Design resilient operational technology (OT) networks for control systems, utilizing various media such as wireless, fiber, and copper.
- Formulate the basis of design (BOD) for building automation systems (BAS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and power monitoring systems (PMS), including detailed datasheets.
- Tailor technical specifications for controls, instrumentation, and cybersecurity within divisions 23 and 25, ensuring alignment with the BOD.
- Customize division 26 power monitoring specifications in coordination with the electrical team to ensure compatibility with factory-mounted systems on distribution equipment.
- Stay updated with modern control system protocols for BAS, EPMS, and PLC, including Modbus, BACnet, and EtherNet/IP, ensuring correct applications and network requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with relevant US codes and engineering standards/practices.
- Utilize templated models for system deployment while meticulously tracking and justifying any changes from the client’s model.
