Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience. A minimum of 4 years' experience as an Instrumentation and Control Engineer (I&C) or controls contractor, focusing on controls submittals. Proficient in building automation systems (BAS) and programmable logic controller (PLC) platforms. Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (PMS/EPMS). Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field. Demonstrated experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects. Familiarity with U. S. codes and standards. Experience in data center or other mission-critical environments. Knowledge of Operational Technology Networks. Experience with SCADA platforms and the specification of technical cybersecurity requirements.

AECOM is seeking a dynamic and skilled Data Center Control System Designer to join our innovative Buildings and Places (B+P) group. This role is primarily remote, allowing you to work from any location in the U. S. AECOM's Arlington, VA office serves as our base, but you are welcome to contribute from wherever suits you best.

This position not only offers the flexibility of remote work, but it also includes the potential for occasional travel for client meetings, key project milestones, and collaborative sessions that are critical to our business success.

In this engaging role, you'll have the chance to collaborate with international teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for a diverse range of global clients. This position is client-facing and provides a pathway for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the mechanical design team to create control sequences, diagrams, and points lists for mechanical systems that serve both building and process systems.
  • Work closely with the electrical design team to develop network architectures and points lists for electrical distribution and conditioning systems.
  • Coordinate with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design team to ensure structured ethernet cabling interfaces align with control panels and end devices.
  • Design robust operational technology (OT) networks for control systems, incorporating various media including wired, wireless, and fiber optics.
  • Establish a basis of design (BOD) for building automation systems (BAS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), power monitoring systems (PMS), instrumentation, and software.
  • Customize division 23 and 25 controls, instrumentation, and cybersecurity specifications according to the BOD.
  • Tailor division 26 power monitoring specifications, ensuring compatibility with factory-mounted systems on distribution equipment.
  • Possess familiarity with modern control system protocols including BAS, EPMS, and PLC such as Modbus, BACnet, EtherNet/IP, along with associated applications and network requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant U. S. codes and engineering standards/practices.
  • Utilize templated models for system deployment while tracking and justifying all modifications from the client's requirements.
