ml4t seeks a Controller to oversee all accounting and fiscal operations for its $30M+ portfolio. This senior role is based in Bethesda, MD, with a hybrid work schedule. The Controller shapes financial strategy and ensures accounting practices align with the organization’s mission to develop future leaders.
Key responsibilities
- Manage general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll compliance, and grant and fund accounting
- Lead treasury operations and prepare financial reports
- Maintain audit readiness and drive process improvements throughout the year
- Deliver timely, accurate financial insights to the CFO, program leaders, and other stakeholders
- Support and develop a high-performing Finance team
- Present complex financial data in clear, actionable ways for a range of audiences
Requirements
- Deep technical knowledge of nonprofit accounting
- Strong operational leadership and proactive problem-solving skills
- Clear communication of financial information to both financial and non-financial colleagues
- Proven commitment to integrity and accuracy
- Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams
