Role Overview

The Melbourne studio is seeking an experienced Creature Supervisor. This role supports the Head of Creatures and works closely with VFX, CG, and Animation Supervisors, as well as department heads. The Creature Supervisor manages all aspects of hero creature and character work for the VFX film division, ensuring that project milestones align with both schedule and budget.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee the creation of hero creature assets, ensuring they meet Framestore’s creative and technical standards.
  • Guide and mentor team members, encouraging collaboration and leading by example.
  • Help define workflows, provide creative direction, and offer leadership as needed.
  • Work with Producers to keep deliverables on track with project timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with show supervision teams to develop high-quality creature assets that fulfill client requirements.
  • Work with the Head of Creatures to identify and implement improvements to creature quality standards.
  • Explore proprietary developments that could benefit future creature and character work.
  • Promote tailored approaches for each show, offering practical ideas and solutions as needed.
  • Maintain and refine creature template assets and reference libraries.
  • Coordinate with asset departments to improve workflow efficiency from both creative and technical perspectives.
  • Communicate regularly with show and departmental teams about current creature standards, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay informed about new industry standards and global processes in creature work.
