Your Role:
As a Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the physical infrastructure of our data center operations. We are looking for a candidate with in-depth technical knowledge of server hardware, networking equipment, power and cooling systems, and structured cabling. You should be a proactive problem solver with strong leadership skills and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware Deployment & Maintenance:
- Maintain organizational infrastructure by racking equipment and replacing hard drives and other system components.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective equipment with minimal supervision.
- Assist in managing onsite inventory of hard drives, cables, rails, and other spare parts.
- Process RMAs for defective components.
- Set up, test, and activate new equipment via the Linux command line.
- Data Center Operations:
- Serve as Backblaze’s physical presence in data center operations.
- Be available for on-call responsibilities, requiring proximity to the facility for 24x7 issue resolution.
- Workdays may include weekends (e.g., Wednesday - Saturday).
- Shifts may involve evenings and/or overnight hours.
- Assist with shipping and receiving, including moving, packing, and unpacking equipment.
- Follow and enhance data center best practices and documentation.
