The Data Science team, a vital part of the broader StubHub Data organization, is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Data Science Manager to lead a growing team (currently consisting of 6 members, spanning from entry-level data scientists to senior staff) across diverse data science disciplines.
As the largest secondary ticketing marketplace worldwide, StubHub generates vast amounts of consumer data, which we utilize to address unique and compelling predictive and inferential challenges in user acquisition, product recommendations, pricing optimization, ticket fulfillment mitigation, and business forecasting. In your role as Data Science Manager, you will collaborate closely with business leaders to translate their long-term strategic goals into actionable machine learning projects executed by your team on a daily basis. Your ability to provide technical oversight while fostering individual growth will be crucial to your team's long-term success.
Your responsibilities will also encompass the technical and personal development of your team members, enhancing talent density through targeted mentorship, strategic career development, and excellence in execution. You will need to plan for team structure and growth as we invest more in machine learning, particularly in understanding optimal methods for building and applying generative AI solutions within our products.
Joining at a pivotal moment for the Data Science practice and the company, you will play an essential role in shaping our future. While the value of this discipline is well-established and we have a high-performing team in place, we are not at a steady state. Key investment areas include establishing new depths of technical expertise (e.g., causal inference, graph ML), advocating for top-tier ML tools/platforms, and broadening the integration of data science across the organization. As a senior leader in this team, you will be instrumental in shaping and realizing this vision.
