About the Team You Will Join
- The Digital Finance Research Team is part of Toss Insights, dedicated to analyzing various forms of financial and economic data based on academic methodologies and leading research on structural changes in the digital finance environment.
- The team collaborates with researchers from diverse fields such as finance and economics, utilizing a unique research environment that leverages both domestic and international financial data, as well as large-scale user behavior data owned by Toss for research purposes within legal boundaries.
- The research outcomes directly influence strategic decision-making within Toss Community and contribute to the expansion of the knowledge ecosystem in digital finance through publication in domestic and international journals and collaborative research with government and regulatory bodies.
Your Responsibilities
- Utilize high-frequency unstructured user behavior data to define research questions in the digital finance sector and independently design and conduct empirical research.
- Apply methodologies such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning-based Causal Inference (Causal ML) to derive data-driven strategic insights on key research topics, including consumer behavior in finance, platform effects, and credit risk.
- Collaborate with researchers within the Digital Finance Research Team (in the fields of financial economics and macroeconomics) to conduct interdisciplinary research that combines methodological expertise with financial domain knowledge, and communicate results through research reports, seminars, and conferences.
Who We Are Looking For
- We need a candidate with a PhD in Data Science, Statistics, or Economics, who has experience applying methodologies such as NLP, Machine Learning, and Causal Inference in research or practical settings.
- Proficiency in handling large unstructured datasets, with the ability to perform end-to-end analysis from data collection to modeling and interpretation using tools like Python or R is essential.
- A strong interest and understanding of the financial economics domain, with the ability to pursue methodological rigor and business impact simultaneously is required.
- Having publications in international peer-reviewed journals since 2022 would be a significant advantage.
