Citizen and capable of passing the CBP background investigation, including checks for felony convictions within the past three years, illegal drug use within the past year, and misconduct such as theft or fraud within the past year. Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Professional experience in database administration and software development.

As a Database Administrator, you will be an integral part of a vibrant and dedicated team of industry experts, upholding best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Your primary focus will be delivering software solutions tied to customer-defined systems and software projects through close collaboration with software developers, engineers, stakeholders, and end-users within Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Shape the future of utilizing complex national data to bolster national security and protect the lives of agents, officers, and individuals entering the country.

Provide high-level architectural direction, technical innovation, and analytical expertise to teams across Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Lead all facets of data architecture, analytic methodologies, and visualization functions, including developing engineering standards, governance processes, and offering insights to explore and effectively utilize emerging technologies.

  • Collaborate with database developers and administrators across various product teams.
  • Act as a data and technology authority for a wide range of mission-critical applications.
  • Engage actively in Agile Scrum sprint planning, artifact creation, sprint testing, regression testing, demonstrations, retrospectives, and solution releases.
  • Analyze project-related challenges and devise innovative technological solutions, employing advanced analytic methodologies and components.
  • Deliver deployable software in rapid sprints.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and constructively work with a technically diverse and geographically dispersed team.
