Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, coupled with eight (8) years of relevant experience in design and/or project management, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Proven leadership experience in data center and mission-critical trade organizations. Fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. PMP Certification. Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional certification. Minimum of 8 years of experience in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management and engineering. Able to thrive in dynamic, time-sensitive environments with minimal supervision.

AECOM is actively seeking an accomplished and innovative Design Manager specializing in Data Centers to join our Bogotá, Colombia office. The ideal candidate will lead a diverse array of colocation and hyper-scale data center projects, overseeing every phase from site due diligence and campus planning to conceptual, schematic, and detailed design, all the way through to construction documentation and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the identification, onboarding, and offboarding of design resources in collaboration with department leadership to support project execution.
  • Direct data center core and shell due diligence and design projects (covering civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and fire protection for both greenfield and modification projects) from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, design requirements, and quality standards.
  • Create and uphold multi-site project and program management plans.
  • Conduct peer reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with client and AECOM standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for the project basis of design and localization processes.
  • Establish a systematic approach to identify, monitor, and resolve scope changes, errors, or inconsistencies during the design process.
  • Facilitate and participate in meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop AECOM’s data center design team, cultivating a culture of collaboration, ownership, and camaraderie.
  • Proactively manage and communicate project changes to both AECOM team members and clients.
  • Anticipate challenges early and devise innovative solutions.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders to provide project updates and address any outstanding issues.
  • Prepare technical and financial proposals for new and modification projects related to data center design.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation of project administration documentation.
