About the job
ABOUT ROCKET LAB
Rocket Lab is a pioneering space company committed to providing agile launch services, comprehensive spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and much more, all aimed at making space accessible to everyone. The rockets and satellites we develop and launch are instrumental in facilitating some of the most ambitious and essential space missions worldwide, which support scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate change initiatives, national security, and exciting technology demonstrations.
Our Electron rocket has established itself as the second most frequently launched rocket in the U. S. annually, successfully delivering over 230 satellites to orbit. Meanwhile, we are actively developing Neutron, our upcoming medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle designed for larger constellation deployments. Our Space Systems division is responsible for designing and building a wide array of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft selected for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as components utilized in the James Webb Space Telescope.
NEUTRON
At Rocket Lab, we are bringing our innovative medium-lift launch vehicle, Neutron, to life. As a Development Engineer, you will work across various vehicle domains, including structural (e.g., propellant tanks, interstage, fairings), mechanical (e.g., stage separation, landing, aerodynamic control), fluid (e.g., pressurant, propellant management, ignition, HVAC), and thermal (e.g., thermal protection) systems.
In this critical role, you will shape the architecture of Neutron while collaborating directly with analysis and manufacturing engineers to generate concepts, detailed designs, and drawing packages for metallic and composite components and assemblies. You will also conduct development and qualification tests, refine designs, and ensure that Neutron's materials, components, and assemblies meet their functional and performance specifications.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
- Create and rapidly iterate conceptual designs in CAD for structures and mechanisms across the Neutron launch vehicle.
- Proactively identify and solve technical challenges...
