About the job
Astranis is revolutionizing space communication by developing advanced satellites designed for high orbits, thereby extending humanity's reach into the solar system. Our satellites provide dedicated and secure networks for a diverse clientele, including large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites already in orbit and a robust pipeline of future launches, we are committed to fulfilling a backlog of over $1 billion in commercial contracts.
As the preferred partner in satellite communications, we cater to customers with stringent demands for uptime, data security, network visibility, and customization. Having raised over $750 million from top investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Blackrock, and Fidelity, we boast a talented team of 450 engineers and entrepreneurs working out of our state-of-the-art 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California.
Role Overview
As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our growing infrastructure team, supporting a rapidly expanding fleet of satellites. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring speed and reliability—essential components when satellites operate thousands of miles above Earth. Your expertise will enable our developers to iterate and deploy swiftly, addressing mission-critical issues and enhancing spacecraft health. You will be responsible for optimizing our CI pipelines, ensuring they are not just efficient but exceptionally fast, empowering our engineers to respond to challenges in real time.
If you are passionate about creating infrastructure that is as mission-critical as the satellites themselves, this position is your launchpad.
This role encompasses support for both commercial and U. S. Government programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance a CI pipeline that integrates with a mix of real and simulated hardware.
- Introduce and optimize build tools and workflows to accelerate development.
- Automate release, deployment, and monitoring tooling for both development and production systems.
- Implement and manage metrics and performance tracking across development, CI, production, and mission contexts.
- Lead initiatives aimed at boosting developer productivity and enhancing developer experience.
