About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Engineering, Agentic AI to spearhead the development of Twelve Labs’ innovative agentic platform. This role will focus on enhancing the developer experience through APIs, SDKs, and advanced tooling, empowering developers to create video-native agents. You will also be responsible for flagship user applications that validate and enhance our platform. As the leader, you will oversee the entire journey from agent capabilities to production-level applications, manage multiple engineering teams, and provide strategic direction for our technology stack. This position is ideal for a proactive builder who thrives in a fast-paced AI environment, is technically savvy, and is passionate about delivering high-quality products. You will need to blend effective people leadership with the ability to navigate complex technical and product decisions amidst uncertainty.
In This Role, You Will
Lead Video Agent Platform Development
- Drive the evolution of Twelve Labs' video agent platform, including:
- Video ingestion and indexing for complex agent workflows.
- Agent orchestration runtime and essential capabilities such as planning, tool utilization, and multi-step reasoning.
- Development of tools for evaluation, observability, and debugging.
- Ensure reliability, low latency, and cost-effectiveness in agent workflows.
- Implement safety measures and guardrails for agent operations.
- Oversee the complete delivery cycle of flagship user applications, from ideation to launch and subsequent iterations.
- Manage the platform product interface, including API design and SDK development.
Ensure Delivery & Execution
- Guarantee delivery, quality, and operational excellence across your teams.
- Drive swift, predictable release cycles with structured planning, regular reviews, and retrospectives to foster continuous improvement.
- Translate product and organizational objectives into clear technical strategies, timelines, and milestones while managing inter-team dependencies.
Build and Lead the Organization
- Recruit, mentor, and expand your teams, guiding them through TLMs and Senior/Staff ICs.
- Attract exceptional talent and continuously elevate the standards. Provide coaching and development opportunities for leaders, manage performance effectively, and establish clear growth pathways for managers and individual contributors.
