This summer internship at Tokamak Energy Ltd. offers hands-on experience in data visualization within the Diagnostics Data and Control team. The placement is based primarily on-site at Milton Park, Abingdon, where free parking and strong public transport connections are available. Role overview As a Summer Placement Student, the focus will be on developing new web-based data visualization tools. The internship begins with a review of the team's current data visualization package. With support from experienced colleagues, the role involves suggesting and implementing improvements to make the package more modular and reusable for future projects. This placement emphasizes learning: expect to research different scientific data visualization tools and libraries, compare their features, and help identify the best fit for the team's needs. Throughout the internship, there will be opportunities to build new skills and deepen technical knowledge. What you will do Research and suggest ways to modularize the existing data visualization package. Assist in developing Python-based data visualization tools, either by enhancing current features or building new ones. Strengthen understanding of Python programming, with a focus on best practices and maintainable code. Learn and apply techniques for visualizing complex scientific data and communicating findings clearly. Work closely with the team to clarify requirements and support project delivery. Present strategies and solutions at internal meetings, with guidance from team members. Working arrangements This internship is primarily on-site at the Milton Park facility in Abingdon. Free on-site parking and excellent public transport links are available for interns.
