About the job
Quartermaster builds technology to turn maritime fleets into real-time sensing networks. The team deploys advanced edge-compute nodes equipped with high-resolution cameras, Software Defined Radios (SDRs), and edge AI processors, all connected through Starlink. These systems operate in some of the most remote areas, processing large amounts of RF and visual data at the edge to provide immediate maritime domain awareness.
Role overview
The Edge Support Engineer manages the configuration and activation of Quartermaster’s sensor fleet after equipment is installed on vessels. While technicians handle physical setup, this role focuses on remote setup and ongoing operation of distributed systems. Key tasks include activating new sensors, configuring cameras and SDRs, and diagnosing issues to ensure new nodes join the global network smoothly.
What you will do
- Remote provisioning: Configure edge nodes remotely, activate Starlink connectivity, and calibrate cameras and SDRs immediately following installation.
- Remote troubleshooting: Act as the escalation point for node health. Troubleshoot Linux systems, resolve container failures, and address hardware-software integration issues from a distance.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Serve as the main link between field technicians, backend engineers responsible for data ingestion, and the AI team deploying models at the edge.
