About the job

About Neuralink:

At Neuralink, we are pioneering the development of devices that facilitate a bi-directional interface with the brain. Our innovative technology aims to restore mobility to those who are paralyzed, restore vision to the blind, and transform the way individuals engage with their digital environments.

Team Overview:

The Surgery & Robotics Hardware Team is on the lookout for passionate Electrical Engineers who are eager to push the boundaries of healthcare solutions through technology. Recognizing the challenges posed by rising healthcare costs, limited access, and a shortage of neurosurgeons worldwide, we are committed to designing and implementing cutting-edge autonomous robotic systems, human-assistive surgical tools, and comprehensive surgical suites to enhance the patient experience.

Our team is focused on the development of our surgical robot system, which aims for the complete automation of Neuralink implant procedures. This entails the design and integration of multi-axis robotic arms, advanced perception systems featuring custom imaging hardware, optical coherence tomography, power electronics, and safety systems such as 3D spatial mapping and object avoidance sensors. Robotics plays a crucial role in a broader ecosystem of tools we create, utilizing pre-operative MRI scans to generate detailed patient anatomy data for precise surgical site registration.

Beyond research and development of state-of-the-art surgical technology, we take responsibility for bringing these innovations to market. We conduct comprehensive lifecycle testing for all devices we design and ultimately manufacture them for human surgeries. Our designs have already benefited over 20 individuals, and we anticipate reaching thousands in the years to come.

Position Responsibilities:

As an Electrical Engineer on the Surgery & Robotics Hardware Team, you will have the autonomy to design, validate, and oversee the transition of various custom electronic systems into production. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of creative decisions and lead impactful projects, including robotics stage designs, motor drives and controls, custom camera designs, manufacturing automation, and related firmware development.

About Neuralink

Neuralink is at the forefront of creating advanced neurotechnology that allows for a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines. Our mission is to develop devices that not only enhance human capability but also address critical healthcare challenges, paving the way for a future where technology and biology converge seamlessly.
