The Electrical Estimating Specialist plays a pivotal role in analyzing project plans, designs, and specifications to ensure accurate estimates that meet client expectations. This position involves identifying necessary project resources based on the defined scope of work and generating detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. The specialist will also engage with external purchasing agents when necessary and gather multiple bids from vendors and subcontractors to aid in contract negotiations. Collaborating with our internal team and potential clients, the Electrical Estimating Specialist will develop competitive project proposals. Additionally, during periods of reduced workload, this role supports Project Managers by estimating Change Orders.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relations:
- Participate in Pre-Bid Meetings to grasp the project's intent and ascertain demolition needs within existing structures, ensuring compatibility with new systems.
- Prepare Requests For Information (RFI) to clarify conflicts in Bid Documents, guiding accurate cost estimations for the electrical requirements.
- Assist in lead follow-ups and referrals from field activities, tracking submitted electrical proposals to determine bid evaluation status.
Estimating:
- Interpret specifications and multiple trade drawings to fully understand electrical project requirements.
- Generate itemized project costs using Construction Systems breakdowns through advanced software like Accu-bid and Enterprise, along with Live Count Plan Viewer.
- Estimate necessary equipment, human resources, and materials for project completion.
- Create Bill of Material letters for submitting to suppliers and subcontractors to obtain product quotes.
- Monitor clients’ plan room Websites for updated bid documents, including Addendums and Clarifications.
- Execute estimating tasks within tight deadlines to meet client expectations.
- Annotate drawings and documents with Bluebeam Revu 2016, providing detailed notes for submission to Architectural and Engineering teams in RFI format, as well as conveying the Estimator’s intent to Project Managers regarding project specifics.
