Key ResponsibilitiesAdhere to all Health & Safety and operational procedures. Conduct planned maintenance on electro-mechanical equipment using approved diagnostic procedures. Conduct electrical fault-finding and corrective repairs to ensure timely and safe equipment service. Assist in equipment preparation for service, including thorough inspections and testing. Configure works train equipment, support shunting operations, and carry out pre-departure checks. Operate works train equipment and locomotives within designated worksites. Maintain accurate records and reports of equipment performance as per procedures. Utilize and advance your skills in computerized administrative and maintenance systems. Achieve qualifications to operate relevant equipment (MEWPs, locomotives, HP washers, PSV vehicles, forklifts, etc.). Qualifications and ExperienceEssentialHND/HNC in an electrical engineering discipline OR BTEC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with relevant technical experience. Hands-on experience in an electrical maintenance environment. Experience in domestic, industrial, or automotive electrical maintenance. Full driving license (manual and automatic). A valid Passport is required for this role. DesirableExperience within the rail industry. Proficiency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.

As an Electrical Works Train Technician, you will perform essential electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on various works train and rail plant equipment. This encompasses mainline locomotives (Krupp), Schoma diesel shunting locomotives, battery hybrid on-track machines, wagons, MEWPs, Hiabs, and service vehicles, including PSV and light commercial vehicles.
Your responsibilities will also include troubleshooting, preparing equipment for service, operating locomotives within worksites, and ensuring all equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.
