THE ROLE

As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will be at the forefront of our emergency care team from your first day. Your responsibilities will include supporting your colleagues, comforting pet owners, and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. You will participate in triage, treatment, and the joy of seeing pets recover. Whether you aim to become a credentialed technician or discover new career paths, VEG is committed to supporting your journey.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a warm welcome and support during the triage of incoming patients
  • Assist with various treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support
  • Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to manage anesthesia and sedation
  • Set up and oversee IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration
  • Support care continuity through participation in rounds and close observation
  • Learn CPR and achieve RECOVER Certification (training provided)
  • Advance into more complex responsibilities, such as anesthesia monitoring
