THE JOB

At VEG, we are not just looking to fill positions; we aim to cultivate future emergency veterinary rockstars. As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will be at the center of our operations from day one, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and mastering the skills needed in real-time. You will assist with everything from triage to treatment and experience the joy of wagging tails as you embark on a career path that allows you to grow and thrive in veterinary emergency medicine.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide a warm welcome and steady support while triaging incoming patients and directing them toward appropriate care.
  • Assist with a variety of treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with our credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in setting up and monitoring anesthesia and sedation cases.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
  • Support patient care during all phases: from outpatient visits to inpatient treatments and in both exam rooms and treatment areas.
  • Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care and stay closely involved in the clinical picture.
  • Learn to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
  • Advance into more complex responsibilities within the emergency veterinary team.
