Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is looking for an Engineer in Training to join the Marine/Waterfront team in Portland, Maine. This position focuses on consulting and design for marine and waterfront structures, working alongside experienced engineers across several disciplines.
Role overview
The Marine/Waterfront division welcomes recent graduates with a Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Coastal, or Ocean Engineering. The team addresses complex engineering challenges for a wide range of marine and waterfront infrastructure projects.
What you will do
- Perform structural engineering analyses and design tasks for marine and waterfront structures.
- Assist senior engineers with on-site investigations to document existing conditions and identify issues.
- Help prepare drawings and specifications for project documentation.
- Support senior staff during construction administration, ensuring project requirements are met.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Coastal, or Ocean Engineering.
- Strong technical educational background.
- Interest in marine engineering and problem-solving.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, geotechnical, mechanical, fire, and civil engineers.
