Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications:Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail. Familiarity with production software such as Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, MathCAD, and Bluebeam Revu. Experience with structural analysis software including RAM Elements, STAAD.pro, RAM Structural System, ETABS, SAP2000, and SAFE. Knowledge of design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.

AECOM is excited to announce an opening for an Entry-Level Structural Engineer at our Newark, DE office.

This position is anticipated to commence in Summer 2026.

As a Structural Engineer, you will collaborate with project teams to create innovative engineering solutions, guiding projects from initial concepts to detailed designs, and providing support during the construction phase. This is a multifaceted role where your insights will be vital to successfully delivering both current and future projects.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging in design, restoration, and planning activities for structural projects, including water and wastewater facilities, industrial facilities, transit stations, and related structures.
  • Calculating structural design parameters to assess loading and demand requirements, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Drafting technical specifications in collaboration with senior staff.
  • Producing design documentation such as 3D models, drawings, and detailed plans using AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Reviewing construction submissions and Requests for Information (RFIs), assisting in the provision of timely, detailed responses.
  • Conducting condition assessments and site visits when necessary, and preparing corresponding reports. Occasional short-term site visits may be required based on project needs.
